Silver Shoes

I don't know why but silver oxford style shoes have been popping up and I can't help but obsess over them.  They made a first impression on a Jcrew's catalog but was ridiculously priced at $258.  Recently, I saw an ever better and girlier pair at ZARA and had to have it.  At just $50, this was a steal.  They just shipped but can't wait to take them for a ride.

On another note, we're going to Mexico City for Thanksgiving.  SO EXCITED.  Can't wait to eat my way through the city.

Love me some booties

Fall is almost here! You know what that means. Now that I've been in LA, I miss the gloomy weather of San Francisco. Days of sundresses, shorts, and flippy flops is an every day occurrence in sunny So Cal and already used to it.

Although the sun is not going away anytime soon, booties are fashionable and suitable for any weather. They go with just about everything you have in the closet. I got my most recent pair at Amazon after shopping around for the best black leather bootie. The Petty Bootie by Sam Edelman is a best seller and perfect for any occasion. These go for up to $160, but got mine for under $120 with Amazon's email sign up for their fashion news.

Gentle Souls - Pod Pie $250 | Seychelles - It's About Time $130 | Sole Society - Addison $70 | DV by Dolce Vita - Java $99 | Madewell - Chelsea Boot $208 | Sam Edelman - Petty $130

Watermelon Strawberry Basil Cooler

We finally cave in and bought a Vitamix. I've been wanting this beast of a blender since I've laid eyes on it. I bought the certified conditioned directly from the Vitamix website. We saved few hundred dollars buying refurbished at $329. If you do a quick search on a coupon code, you should be able to find a free shipping code that'll safe you $25. All in all, it's a good deal if you make smoothies regularly. It's a hefty price to pay for a blender, but sooo worth it!

I've been blending smoothies every day and here is a great one to try on a hot summer day; inspired by theKitchn.

Watermelon Strawberry Cooler
makes 2 approximately 8-ounce drinks

4 cups cubed watermelon
1 cup frozen strawberries
1/2 peeled lime (or juice from 1/2 lime)
sprinkles of basil/mint leaves, plus more for garnish
ice (optional)

Blend the watermelon, strawberries, and lime until smooth. Strain through a sieve, pushing the juice through with a spatula. Discard the solids.

Muddle 3 mint leaves in the bottom of each glass. Fill glasses with ice (optional) and serve.

Today, I had 2 separate but random occurrence to a dirty and used rubber on my path to work. Talk about a disgusting way to start your Monday. All that aside, we spent the rest of the weekend binging on Netflix's new original series - Orange is the New Black. If you haven't read about it or heard the buzz, this show is SO. GOOD. We can't decide whether the show is a drama or comedy, or both. Regardless, we thought the writing is pretty memorable, with an original story line and a lot of female nudity. Not the best acting from some characters, but you'll look past it. The season has 13 episodes, all you need is 2 days in. Go watch it now!!

LA Renegade Craft Fair

Spent some time hanging out with my friends Miri and Alyssa at the Renegade Craft Fair. I attended last year in SF, where I found lots of handmade crafts and goodies made by local artists. I spent less money this time but still had an equally great time; although, I prefer Fort Mason as venue compared to the Los Angeles History State Park.
